im Hewkin is a great instructor as well as a great person. As soon as I started with Jim I found that we got on very well, his sense of humour is brilliant and he just relaxes you as soon as you get into the car with him. After the first instructor I had, I thought driving wasn’t for me, but with Jim I found myself wanting to have lessons and looking forward to them. He’s so calm next to you it gives you the confidence you need, and any mistakes you make are calmly dealt with so you don’t feel like you’ve made a major error but you still learn what you did was wrong. I can’t recommend Jim enough and I can honestly say you won’t find a better instructor around these areas...

I can't recommend Jim enough; he taught both my sister and I, and we both passed first time. When I first started driving I really didn't think that I would ever be able to pass a test (I didn't like going much above 20mph) but Jim is an excellent instructor and I now have no problems with it. Through a combination of thorough, well explained teaching and encouragement I am now a confident driver and can't thank Jim enough. He is incredibley friendly, and lessons are relaxed but thorough and his prices are competitive. I have recommended Jim to everyone I know !..

I have been through 4 driving instructors now due to financial problems, being pregnant and an ill driving instructor. I have had to stop and start since I was 17 (I am now 27) and Jim is by far the best driving instructor I have had. He explains maneuvers in a simple easy to understand manner. He strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and fun to make the most of the lessons by enjoying the time spent learning to drive. I cannot believe how much I have learnt through Jim, if only I had found him when I first started driving I think I would have passed years ago. Jim is also a very caring and supportive driving instructor and understands when life throws trouble our way. I would highly recommend Jim as both a friend and a driving instructor. I just want to say that I will miss our weekly lessons and that the car now feels empty without you. Thanks Jim, your a cut above all the rest!..

Jim was the second driving instructor that i had. I was very reluctant to learn again after not getting on with my previous instructor however Jim imeediatly put me at ease and i felt very comfortable telling him what aspects of driving concerned me.
He was always very clear with what i was suppose to be doing and took time to stop the car and not only explain how to move the car but also why.
i found my lessons both educating and fun and would highly recommend Jim to anyone i know that wants to learn.
I am now driving my children to school and back without having to rely on my husband. Its a god send having my own car living where we do and it is all thanks to Jim that i am now in this position.

Throughout the course i learnt with Jim, i feel i learnt not just one of lifes greatest lessons (how to drive) but much more. Jim was exceptional in his teaching, absolutely hilarious and i would recommend no other than him. I felt after the period ive known Jim, i dont just think of him as a teacher but an extremely valued friend. It is a lovely feeling that two people with such a great age difference can get on so well, and quite frankly i cant say enough about the man. It has only been just under 2 weeks since i've passed but find myself missing my lesson on thursday afternoons and the dvd's he used to let me borrow very much so. If your any age and looking to learn to drive, Jim Hewkin is the man for you...

Jim is an amazing instructor. He's lessons are fun as well as insightful and by the end of my lessons i regarded him as a friend not an instructor. He's laid back approach, kind words and occasional dirty joke helped me feel confident behind the wheel and made driving an enjoyable experience even though i had no real interest in cars to start with. So if your looking for a fun, layed back and all round amazing driving instructor, Jim's your man :D..
